Coffee Wakes Up the World

People around the world awake to enjoy their first morning cup of coffee. If you are one of those people that have a coffee machine timed for the morning brew, you will awake to the aroma of coffee brewing. The smell of coffee brewing, for coffee lovers is a very pleasant start to the day. Other people enjoy a coffee from a coffee shop, so they head off to the café and enjoy a cappuccino, latte or other specialty coffee.

People in New York drink coffee that has a different taste than the coffee in Arabia. People in Japan drink their coffee beverage that might differ from that made in Togo. They all drink their coffee in the morning for the same purpose, to kick start their day.

Coffee naturally contains caffeine, and as the first beverage in the morning is a natural ‘wake up’ drink. We are much more alert when we have had our cup of this wonderful beverage. Some people swear that their coffee gives them energy. During the course of the day we will have one or more cups of this tasty beverage. Often coffee has been described as giving us a lift, or a boost in our day. Many people would be lost without their cup of coffee.

There are more shops selling coffee than ever before, but coffee has been around for many centuries. There is evidence that this popular beverage was first grown and consumed in Ethiopia. Coffee plants yield berries that contain beans that are used to make coffee.

Most people would not recognize the coffee plant that produces their cup of coffee, because they do not see the coffee beans in their natural state. Most of the plants that produce the necessary beans are not grown in everyone’s locality.

The beans from the plants must be processed. The beans are ripened, harvested and roasted before they are ground for brewing. The process can be varied to produce different tastes. Some people like this beverage without any additions although other people add one or more ingredients to produce desired coffee flavor. Traditional additions are milk, whipped cream and sugar. Other additions can be special flavorings, such as hazelnut, cocoa, liqueurs and some even add salt.

Coffee is such a versatile beverage. It can be enjoyed hot or cold, black or white, weak or strong, sweet or bitter. There is a never ending choice with your coffee selection.
