this is a very good basic guide teaching you how to choose an espresso machine. I think basically, before you spend on it, you need to do your research carefully. Even if you manage to save on costs, you might be in for a surprise on poor quality materials or espresso machines that just don't last

Hi Joe,

No, "Cuppa" is not a brand name...in Australia for example, if you are going to enjoy a coffee or tea with someone, you ask them if they would like a 'cuppa.' It's amazing how different terms are used for something as simple as a "cuppa tea or coffee!"

LOL...but what a great brand name! :)

I can definitely say that coffee maker is one of my first stops each morning when my wife and I get up. It's an absolute necessity to get some caffeine in the system first thing. Actually, we just recently purchased our second Bunn coffee maker which we like a lot. In the past, we've had cheap coffee makers by Mr. Coffee, Black & Decker and others, but none of those compare. I can't say that I've ever heard of a Cuppa. Is that a brand name?

Anyway, we've been pretty happy with our Bunn coffee maker. I think it came with only a 1 year warranty, but I know it will last. It does not have a timer, but I don't mind that as I like my coffee either freshly ground or right out of the freezer. Besides, my coffee maker makes coffee in 3 minutes.

Thanks for educating the public about the loss of quality with the aging of coffee. I also want to thank you for mentioning my beloved Blue Mountain Coffee in the context of being one of the finest. One way to insure that your coffee is fresh is to buy directly from the farmer. I am a third generation Blue Mountain Coffee farmer. I just recently started selling to consumers and retailers in North America….hint hint

Even if you aren't going to roast your own green beans, the best way to buy your coffee is to buy whole bean and grind it right before brewing. This will give the best flavor.
